HOUSE OF YOKO //
OUR PHILOSOPHY
For over 45 years, House Of Yoko (former Yoko’s Haute Coiffure) has been serving clients on the North Shore. In March 2014, we relocated from Ambleside, West Vancouver, to The Pinnacle at The Pier in North Vancouver, bringing with us a new concept that unites expertise, heritage, and holistic care.
Mika
Founder, Trichologist & Hair Architect
Born in Montréal, Quebec, Mika has always been fascinated by the connection between beauty, health, and wellbeing. With a B.A. in French Literature from the University of British Columbia, she went on to become a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a licensed Shinso Therapist in Japanese Body Realignment, before specialising in trichology. Mika is a Certified Trichologist with the International Association of Trichologists (I.A.T.), a Higher Associate of Trichology, and a member of the World Trichology Society (WTS). She is currently advancing her training in Functional Medicine to more effectively target the underlying causes of scalp disorders and treat the person as a whole. Her dedication to ongoing education and passion for knowledge and latest research keep her at the forefront of holistic care.
Mika’s journey into hair design began in 2003 when she obtained her cosmetology license and completed post-graduate studies at the Vidal Sassoon Academy in London, UK. She continues to attend annual training at the Sassoon Academy in London, UK, keeping her practice rooted in precision, artistry, and innovation.
Her inspirations — from architect Frank Lloyd Wright to designer Yohji Yamamoto and composer Sergei Rachmaninoff — reflect her belief in beauty as both structure and expression. Drawing on her family’s 35-year salon heritage in West Vancouver, Mika founded Yoko’s at The Pinnacle at Pier to create a space where precision cutting, scalp health, and holistic wellness converge.
